My goals are simple – I am growth oriented, curious as all get out, and driven to understand WHY and HOW things are the way they are. The power and interconnectedness of the human body, mind and spirit as it relates to healing, regeneration of function and creation of a new way of being fascinates me endlessly.
In my search for deeper understanding, I engage in continuing education programs that not only include the emergent, cutting edge science but are also rooted in ancient spiritual wisdom, and holistic modalities for healing.
I strive to be in the top 1% of my field and as a commitment to that process, I am always studying, learning, and applying what I discover.
Health & Fitness Professional
Z-HEALTH PERFORMANCE SOLUTIONS
I am committed to completion of the Z-Health Performance Solutions certification process, which includes 13 separate certifications in the areas of applied neurology, physiology, kinesiology, and behavioral science. Currently, I am certified in 3 of the 4 base certifications (R-Phase, I-Phase, and T-Phase) with plans to complete the fourth base certification by Spring of 2021.
I have set a goal to expand my Yoga certification in January 2021 by enrolling in a Y12SR program that presents a framework for addiction recovery including the cognitive approach of 12-step programs, the trauma healing approach of Somatic Experiencing and body-based approaches of yoga and mindfulness. I know this will be a beautiful compliment to the work I offer clients currently.
HEART MATH INSTITUTE
Finally, I recently discovered The Heart Math Institute, a non-profit research and education organization helping people to reconnect with their hearts in order to “…rebalance and rejuvenate by reducing stress, and learning to self-regulate emotions.”
What I learned from exposure to a podcast resonated with me on a deep intuitive level. So I must explore more!
I’m learning that the heart actually sends more signals to the brain than the brain sends to the heart! “These heart signals have a significant effect on brain function—influencing emotional processing as well as higher cognitive faculties such as attention, perception, memory, and problem-solving. In other words, not only does the heart respond to the brain, but the brain continuously responds to the heart.” I am excited to learn more about the psychophysiology of stress, resilience, and the interactions between the heart and brain so that I can use the techniques that help my clients achieve their goals for health, fitness, and happiness in all areas of life.
